I would like to see the qualifing criteria for the designer class addressed. As it stands any boat that did not sail in the championships the previous year is eligible to compete for the designer trophy.(I think this is right)
If one or two of the faster boats miss a championship or two and returns the following year, it gives us “genuinely slow boats” no chance of winning.

Designer Tankard elibility: “All boats and helms excluding the top 25 boats and top 25 helms in Mermaid Championships 2010. Also excluded are Mermaid Champion 2006 – 2009, Daphne Winner 2011 and Mermaid Champion 2011.”. Perhaps this could be extended to exclude Top 5 boats/helms from previous 5 Championships.

Unfortunately I will be unable to attend the AGM tonight. In this age of tehnology would it be worth considering some kind of link to the meeting via Skype or some other means that would allow us members that can’t attend to have a vote. I would like this to be considered tonight with a view to setting up something for next years AGM.

I agree with Sea Fox. The Designer Tankard should be a prize for boats that are slower for one reason or the other. It would give that part of the fleet something to race for at the Nationals. Finishing positions of boats over the previous three years should be considered. If a boat is absent from the nationals then their previous finishing position should be taken into consideration. It is disheartening for slower boats at the nationals when the crew are checking the daily results for the Designer and see boats that would normally be in the top 15 getting results in the Designer class. I propose a review of the qualifying criteria for the different trophy’s.
