Ants Weldon reckons that harvesting sprouts in –10⁰C has affected his brain as he now owns three Mermaids. He’s looking for a cure for fellows in a loft hammering and sawing and mixing glue while everyone is at home beside the fire watching XFactor.

Suggestions please (click reply above right).

        Alan,

Please email your contact details to web@dublinbaymermaid.org and I’ll pass them on to Ants, Enda and Paddy.

Hi Peter it is Paddy Archer who is building with the Weldon Brothers not me.

        • Mermaid Sailor 16:25 on 11 February 2011 Permalink

Sorry Paddy, I’ve corrected this on the News section of website.

Ant’s will be a force to be reckoned with this year.
I see he even has Bredan and Des out training.

      Watch out fleet!

don’t know but i think the photo is in clontraf

      • Mermaid Sailor 19:37 on 10 February 2011 Permalink | Reply

Paddy, yes the photo is in Clontarf. The angle of the shear strake on this boat is distinctive, also note the deck width.

        • Mermaid Sailor 16:34 on 11 February 2011 Permalink

While the photo is in Clontarf, the boat is not from Clontarf.

Kinearly – no it’s not Celia No. 5. Hint – the boat carries a girl’s name!

Good point on open forum. I’ll put one together. In the meantime check out the Akita page via GALLERY

Check it out !!!! i printed it off and now know it backwards,
Sean Rooney, Joe Boylan, Jim Dempsey, Paul Winters & Sam Shiels have all patient and generous with the time and knowledge without them dont think we would have got so far. Roll on 2011 season.

Can you make it that we can enlarge the image?

      • Clare 11:58 on 11 February 2011 Permalink | Reply

As it is a girls name would it be no 76 Helen as Jill would normally sail over from Dun Laoghaire and would not be on the hard

      • Mermaid Sailor 12:30 on 11 February 2011 Permalink | Reply

Sorry Patrick, that’s all you get – do you want to make it too easy?

      Aideen 113

      • Mermaid Sailor 16:28 on 11 February 2011 Permalink | Reply

Paddy, it’s neither 113 Una C, nor is it 21 Aideen!
Nor is it a clubmate of either of these two boats……

      Deirdre no. 90

      • Mermaid Sailor 17:20 on 11 February 2011 Permalink | Reply

Not Deirdre! The late Peter Dunne would be shocked at the thought, particularly when you realise which boat is in the photo.

    • Patrick 18:05 on 11 February 2011 Permalink | Reply

Did she compete in the last 2 championships?

      Elizabeth No 36

      • Mermaid Sailor 18:39 on 11 February 2011 Permalink | Reply

Well done Alan. It’s Elizabeth. She has a slightly different shape on the Shear Strake, due to modifications where she was widened. All legal I’m assured!

    Name this Boat

Here’s a view of the transom of a well known boat – she’s fast too, the transom is the most common view that most Mermaiders have of this boat.

Name and Number of this Boat?

Here's the full pic: No. 73 Lively Lady in Foynes, June 2010

How well do you know your Mermaids?

There’s a new mast head on the Mermaid website – what boat is it?
Also in the Blog masthead, name the three sailors and the boat.

Sorry I didn’t see this earlier. Obviously the first Paddy at 23:38 is correct, Paddy Dillon at 23:46 is wrong. And I still don’t see the three crew named!
